There are many uses an iPad serves including playing music, browsing the web and watching videos.

Lifewire recently had an article detailing the iPads 30 best uses.

There are probably more but we’d be here all day if we had to list them all.

It’s 2017 and a new iPad is almost as much as the latest iPhone which is over $1,000.

At Akoda, we think it’s better to buy a used iPad as it is affordable and serves the same purpose.

1. iPads are used for light computing purposes

The iPad 2 is more than sufficient in computing power to browse the internet, read e-books and watch videos.

If you need the latest iOS for a specific app then a newer iPad Air or Mini might be a better options, however this isn’t an issue for our customers.

The iPad 2 provides support for iOS 7, iOS 8, and iOS 9.

In any case, you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to buy a second hand iPad.

You can buya cheap used iPad 2 online for less than $200 and have $800 left over to go towards your next holiday!

2. Your children don’t need a $1,000 iPad

If you have a family with multiple children, it makes even less sense to buy the latest iPad for your children especially when you consider the marginal added benefit of having a new iPad compared to an earlier model.

Imagine having a family of 3 kids and spending $3,000 on 3 iPads!

You are much better off buying 3 pre-owned iPads on Akoda which you can easily get for less than the price of 1 new iPad.

Children are using iPads at an earlier age than ever before and this can be an issue if they’re handed an expensive iPad Pro.

Kids have a tendency to not take care of their belongings and this is still the case whether they’re playing with their toys or their iPad. By buying a good cheap second hand iPad, you’re providing them the utility of the brand new one without having to worry about them breaking an expensive piece of technology.

3. Most people are not buying new iPads

According to a study by analytics company Localytics in late 2015, the iPad 2 was still the most commonly used iPad despite newer releases.

This means that most people don’t find the need to upgrade their iPad because there isn’t a need to.

The reality is that an earlier model iPad provides all the necessary functions that a newer one does. The only difference is that it is a fraction of the price tag.

Alex Cranz from Gizmodo wrote that the latest iPad Pro is great but not worth the upgrade.

Unless you are an artist or work in design where a large tablet with a stylus pen is needed, there’s not many other features or benefits which justifies the exorbitant price tag.
